Going Hardwood?

Are you thinking of transitioning to hardwood floors in your home?  If so chances are you have some questions.  Here are a few of the top things to consider according to the National Wood Flooring Association.
Cognac Hickory

Solid or engineered hardwood - both are natural wood, just composed different. Solid is just that - a solid piece of wood of varying thicknesses.  This type can be used in any room on an upper level of a home. Engineered hardwood is layers of wood veneers layered together and can be nailed or glued to a sub-floor or concrete slab, making it perfect for basements.

Which species you choose will help set the tone of your home.  Light woods like ash or maple tend to make a room feel more open and airy.    Medium woods such as hickory and oak can make a room feel more warm and cozy, while dark woods like maple or mahogany add a more stately feel.

Oak Butterscotch
Ordering 10% more flooring than necessary for the square footage is normal in order to have enough product to work around fireplaces, stairs or closets

Choosing a sheen is really a personal preference. Typically the less sheen you have the less little scratches will show.

These are just a few things to keep in mind when considering hard wood floors as an option for flooring in your home.  If you have questions or would like to see samples just stop by Barefoot Floors in Osage Beach and we would be happy to give you ideas and answer any questions you may have!
